Who We Are
Gary Barrett is Joint owner of Bike Restorations. He spent 25 years in a corporate environment, the last 5 on the Boards of large Information Technology Companies. In his free time he was able to unwind by indulging in his passion for Motorcycles. He has owned Motorcycles from all disciplines, makes, sizes and ages.
Whilst able to carry out the majority of restoration and maintenance on his Motorcycles he was often frustrated that he could not get access to quality suppliers to help him with more specialist work. Often these had to be local. What he wanted was a facility that gave him access to suppliers that had been recommended by other satisfied bikers.
Bike Restorations as a concept was born. This idea was further developed with his business partner Melvyn Manning who has many years within the mechanical engineering, motorcycle and car trade, including positions with Rolls Royce/Bentley and until recently restorations with a renowned Classic Motor Cycle builder and restorer.
Mel Manning has over 35 years of motorcycling and automotive engineering experience, mostly classic. He has a broad base of working knowledge from modern machinery to classic with an eye for detail and quality.
With a large network of industry connections, and recognising that others did not have this advantage or the time to find these services, he joined forces with Gary Barrett. Together with Gary's wealth of corporate experience and the recognition of how to apply this idea to the marketplace enabled them to develop Bikerestorations.com. It offers a complete online service where everyone can access the best of the best for their own restoration requirements.
Gary and Mel have pooled their skills and knowledge, plus their passion for Motorcycles, particularly classic, to set up Bikerestorations.com that puts bikers with a passion in touch with suppliers with a passion.
